Gelli prints – monoprinting with a jelly plate
Gelli printing is an exciting and versatile monoprinting method. Medway Fine Printmakers will be running workshops to explore the possibilities of this printing method and combining with other printmaking techniques.
Mono-printing on gelatin plates gives a unique result popular with many print-makers. While gelatin plates ultimately deteriorate. Plates are actual reusable printing surfaces. They look feel and react like a gelatin plate but are made of a unique plastic that contains mineral oil. They do not contain any latex or animal products. Acrylic paint water-soluble inks and fabric paints work best to create interest.
